Job Title: NPD Food Assistant

We’re looking for a new assistant to join our Fourayes New Product Development team in Bicknor, in the heart of the beautiful Kent countryside.

Reporting to: The NPD Coordinator

Full Time Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Salary: £24,150 per annum, pro rata if part time

Holidays: 20 days pro rata plus Bank Holidays

Fantastic Rural Location in the middle of our English Bramley apple orchard. So, you will need to have own, or reliable transport to site. We are 5 mins drive from Detling Hill and 15-20min drive from Maidstone or Sittingbourne.

Job Purpose:

The NPD Assistant will be responsible for supporting in the development of new products as requested by management or customers.


Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Devising and developing new products and their recipes/formulations under the guidance of NPD Coordinator.
  • Providing support in all areas of New Product Development within a fast-paced environment.
  • Assisting the creative evolution of products from initial concept to delivered goods.
  • Producing kitchen trials and pilots.
  • Involvement in establishing the product quality control parameters.
  • Preparing and despatching samples to relevant customers.
  • Observing first production of new product to ensure conformance to the established development parameters.
  • Completion of all documentation as required.
  • Accurate recording of technical data.
  • Cleaning/maintenance of new product development area and kitchen.
  • Attending customer visits as and when required.
  • Ensuring stock ingredients are replenished – stock rotation, ordering ingredients from suppliers.
  • Flexible to cover NPD Coordinator role in times of departmental absence.

Education and Experience:

Essential: GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics, English and 2 Sciences
Desirable: 12 months experience in food manufacturing, product development or technical

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the role holder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The role holder will occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

If you don’t work all week in the factory then you can join the picking team in September & October. It’s £10 per bin for the 1st pick. Also great if you are student looking for holiday work.
