Job Title: Engineers Mate
We’re looking for a new engineer to join our Fourayes engineering team in Bicknor, in the heart of the beautiful Kent countryside.
Reporting to: The Engineering Manager
Full Time Hours: Working Monday to Friday on a rotating shift pattern with start times between 06:00 and 14:00 in line with the business requirements.
Salary: £competitive
Welcome Bonus: Upon successful completion of a 12-week probationary period the candidate will receive a one off £300 bonus.
Holidays: 20 days pro rata plus Bank Holidays
Fantastic Rural Location in the middle of our English Bramley apple orchard. So, you will need to have own, or reliable transport to site. We are 5 mins drive from Detling Hill and 15-20min drive from Maidstone or Sittingbourne.

Job Role
The role of the Engineer Mate is to ensure a highly professional service is provided to all its internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
To undertake essential maintenance works, both planned and reactive with fault finding and fault diagnosis that are required to allow production to run and downtime to be minimised in a fast-paced production / manufacturing environment.
- To ensure that all plant and machinery is maintained in good safe and efficient working order at all times.
- To ensure that all site services and facilities are maintained in good safe and efficient working order at all times.
- To work as part of a team sharing knowledge and ideas to improve processes and production techniques.
- To meet and exceed departmental KPI’s and targets.
- To maintain a positive working atmosphere is maintained.
- To work safely at all times making sure that your actions to not cause harm to yourself or others.
- To Adhere to company policies and procedures
Education and Qualifications
To carry out this role successfully the individual must be willing to learn and be interested in obtaining a recognised engineering qualification with support from the company. Ideally will have experience of working in a food manufacturing / processing environment with the ability to communicate at all levels
Must be able to work to current health and safety requirements and use relevant permits to work where necessary.
Shift Pattern:
This is a permanent position with immediate start preferred. Working hours will require a fair degree of flexibility based on a two-shift system: 06.00 – 14.00 / 14.00 – 22.00. Currently, there is no night shift, but applicants should be aware that this may become a requirement in the future as shift patterns develop in line with company success.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet, cold and or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. There is an amount of walking, standing, and sitting involved. The noise levels have been assessed across the plant and some areas are mandatory hearing protection

Put your name down for the Bramley Apple Picking team every Autumn
If you don’t work all week in the factory then you can join the picking team in September & early October. Current rate is £15 per bin for the 1st pick. Also great if you are student looking for holiday work.
